It’s time to make some changes here at SCL.
While the bad news is that I have to raise shipping rates. The good news is that you can now access a discount that could give you free shipping!
Now on all orders of at least $75, you can qualify for free (or discounted) shipping!
How does it work?
It’s simple! Just add $75 worth of merchandise to your cart and the discount will appear automatically!
PLEASE NOTE: You will still be charged for shipping. The discount will be on a separate line giving you a discount of $8.95.
Why $8.95?
Long story, short: When I dug into the numbers, I discovered that I was actually losing money on a lot of orders. Since I started this business
- Shipping costs have gone up
- Box costs have gone up
- Bubble wrap costs have gone up
- Labor costs have gone up
And here I was still charging the same $5.95 shipping. While I made it work for the first two and a half years, it’s not a good long term decision. I can’t keep losing money like that if I want to stay in business and help you complete your collection.
What changes are being made?
The biggest changes are for US customers.
The Cheapest Shipping option is now $8.95 (previously $5.95). With this option you allow us to ship with either UPS or USPS, whichever is cheapest for your particular package.
The USPS guaranteed option is now $11.95 (previously $9.95). This is for anyone who cannot receive UPS packages. For example, if you are shipping to a PO Box, you should choose this option as UPS will not deliver to PO Boxes.
All international shipping rates have increased by $1. (These rates were established later and were more in line with actual shipping costs. Therefore I did not need to increase them as much as the domestic rates.)
With all the various shipping rates I felt it was only fair to give everyone the same discount. So while I understand that a discount of $8.95 will not equal free shipping for the international crowd, I hope that it will help alleviate the burden.
Bonus for VIPs!
But wait… there’s more…
While anyone can nab this $8.95 discount with a $75 purchase, VIPs can access the discount with a $50 purchase!
Not familiar with our VIP program? Let me explain.
Anyone can join the VIP program. It costs $10 per month and will renew automatically, but you can cancel at any time. As a VIP you:
- Gain access to the monthly Private Auctions
- Get a 20% discount on items in the shop
- Get discounted shipping with a $50 purchase
I will note that with this extra benefit, the price of the VIP membership will be increasing soon. Starting November 1st, 2023 the membership will cost $15 per month. BUT you can lock in the $10 per month pricing if you sign up now and it will stay at $10 per month as long as you stay a member. (If you cancel after November 1st and want to sign up again later, you will need to pay $15 per month.)
