Skylanders 101 presented by SCL

What is a Wow-Pow?

Wow-Pows are special attack or powers that are only available to reposed Core Skylanders (Series 2, 3, and 4).

The Wow-Pow is similar to the Soul Gem ability in that it is typically regarded as the strongest attack. However, unlike the Soul Gem ability, you do not need to collect anything to unlock the Wow-Pow.

Why are reposed Skylanders the only characters with Wow-Pows?

The Wow-Pow ability is the main selling point of the reposed figures. So for those who don’t need to “collect them all”, the Wow-Pow is something that might pique their interest.

Do reposed Skylanders have a Soul Gem?

The Soul Gem itself is exclusive to the Series 1 figures and is only available to collect in that Skylander’s first game.

However, reposed figures will have access to the Soul Gem ability. A Series 2 figure will simply be able to purchase the Soul Gem ability without having to collect anything to unlock it.

Take Series 2 Gill Grunt for example. In Skylanders Giants (the game with which S2 Gill Grunt was released) Gill Grunt will be able to purchase the Soul Gem ability immediately. Once the Soul Gem ability has been purchased, it is available for the character to use in any game because this information is stored with the figure.

So after purchasing the ability in Giants, you could take Gill Grunt back into Spyro’s Adventure and you would be able to use the Soul Gem ability even if you haven’t even found the Soul Gem in Spyro’s Adventure yet.

Does every new repose have a new Wow-Pow?

Yes.

A Skylander will get its first Wow-Pow with its Series 2 figure. A Series 3 figure will also have a Wow-Pow, but it will be different from the Series 2 Wow-Pow.

For more information take a look at the charts below. We’ll take a closer look at Gill Grunt since he has been reposed the most.
