As it happens every year, a new game comes out and I am flooded with all sorts of questions.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining.
I absolutely love interacting with you and being able to help you in any way I can. With that being said, here are some of the most common questions I’ve been asked over the course of this past week.
Maybe they’ll answer a question you have or maybe they’ll help you answer a question for someone you know.
I didn’t find any Cards or Stickers in my Starter Pack. Am I missing something?
No.
They decided to forego the Cards and Stickers in the Starter Pack this year.
If you wanted the Stickers to put on the Poster (as they were originally intended), no worries. They have already colored in those spaces on the Poster so it will still look uniform once complete.
If you want the Cards, I recommend you stay tuned for more about the upcoming Skylanders Battlecast. While they won’t be the same as the traditional Stat Cards, these cards should have all the new characters on them.
For future reference, if you’re not sure if something is missing from the Starter Pack, just check the Contents on the bottom of the box. That will tell you exactly what you should expect to find.
I didn’t find a Stat Card in my Figure/Vehicle Pack. Am I missing something?
No.

Why can’t I access Racing Mode?
In order to access the Racing Mode, you need to complete the first Level (Chapters 1-4). Chapter 5 will introduce you to the Skylanders Academy and from then on you will be able to access Racing Mode at any time.
It says I need a Sea/Sky Vehicle to continue, but I only have the Starter Pack. Am I stuck?
No.
The Sea and Sky sections are ALWAYS optional. Understandably though they often make it seem like you “need” to go that way.
Sometimes it’s as simple as following the path past the Sea/Sky section, but other times it’s not as obvious.
Keep an eye out for alternate paths, doorways, and even people to talk to. They can all help you move forward without accessing the Sea/Sky areas.
Can I complete the game with just the Starter Pack?
Yes.
As mentioned above the other sections are optional. Ever since the first Skylanders game you have always been able to complete the game with just the contents of the Starter Pack.
You may not be able to access every area or collect every item, but you will be able to play through every level and defeat the final Boss.
What do I need to get 100% completion?
In order to access every area and find every collectible in the main storyline you will only need:
- 1 SuperCharger
- 1 Land Vehicle
- 1 Sea Vehicle
- 1 Sky Vehicle
This is the cheapest Skylanders game to complete 100% to date.
Do I need a Vehicle of each Element?
Not for anything in the main storyline.
In the Skylanders Academy there is one Vehicle challenge for each of the elements, but they will not affect your ability to complete the game.
Do I need a SuperCharger of each Element?
Not for anything in the main storyline.
There is a SuperCharged Challenge for each SuperCharger in the Skylanders Academy. To access these challenges you must have the SuperCharger along with their Signature Vehicle.
I put the Sea Trophy on the Portal and it didn’t do anything. Is it broken?
No.
It was an odd choice, but there is no big fanfare the first time you put the Sea Trophy on the Portal.
So what does it do?
Well, most of the work is done behind the scenes. I thought it would be easier to show you what it does in-game. So take a look at this video if you haven’t figured it out yet.
As I said before, these are just some of the most common questions I’ve received.
If you still have a question, please feel free to contact me here (via email) or just leave your question in the comments below and I will do my best to answer your question.
I had an issue that some other parents might be having with WiiU If you turn the base of Donkey Kong it activates the Amiibo. It took 30 minutes of my son being really upset that Donkey Kong wasnt an Amiibo before I looked at the bottom. You twist the base left or right. One is Skylander , one is Amiibo. Just thought I might save someone else from having an upset child .
Yep. Thank you for bringing that up. It probably should have been included in this list.
Hi there, there’s one question I’m still curious about and I’ve seen this question asked before but never found an answer – what happens if you try and play one of the supercharged core skylanders (say shark shooter terrafin) in one of the older games? Does it revert to the old attacks path or does it just not work at all? Thanks in advance, love your site!
Unfortunately, they do not work.
Although they refer to them as re-imagined characters and we have seen them before, they are treating them as brand new characters.
Not only do they have a Soul Gem to collect in SuperChargers, but they will not work in previous games.
Ah well. Thanks for clearing that up 🙂
This is kind of sad, so far there is no backwards compatibility with the figures.
Here’s a question: Unlocked the Volcanic Vents mod for Spitfire’s vehicle (out of a vehicle zone toolbox), and it’s in my blueprints, but I can still only cycle through the original thrusters and the one unlocked by pairing the character and vehicle. The wheels are all available to switch through. Is this a problem everyone has (or all ps3 users?)?
Is there any chance of a patch for that?
In good news, my Drobots are back to working the way I like! Programmed into the last game so you couldn’t go back and forth between flight and hovering – now they do again!
Same thing is happening with the sky slicer’s thrusters – all mods unlocked, only two available when switching. kinda heartbreaking. anybody think it’d help to reset the vehicles?
I have heard of others having similar problems, but with different vehicles/mods.
I can’t say I’ve noticed anything myself yet. I’ll try to keep an eye on this.
I found a good way to explain to people is that the trophies are like traps from Trap Team. Once you beat the villains, you trap them in the trophy and then you can use them for racing. You can’t play the villains in the main story line, but you can in the racing.
Yep. That’s about how it works. However, not everyone has played Trap Team.
I don’t have Superchargers yet but I have watched some gameplay of 1st level on WiiU. In one video 1st vehicle mod was Banana Coal Catcher, in the other one 1st mod was Kong Crafted Engine. Is that unusual.
No. The mods are completely random.
The red toolboxes that contain the mods will always be in the same place, but which mod you get is random.
Does anyone know who will be in charge of the Land Trophy, I think It’s Either Roller Brawl or Trigger Happy
Trigger Happy seems most likely at this point, but it has not been confirmed yet.
Can 2 people play on the same console in a racing challenge
Two players on the same console can race against each other (split screen), but I don’t think both of you can race online at the same time.
Question: Did anyone preordered the Skylander Superchargers Starter Park Dark Edition with the extra figure Dark Super Shot Stealth Elf for Wii U? I received the box yesterday and no Stealth Elf. I spent thirty minutes fighting with them to figure out what’s going on. Evidently they pulled the figure off their website.Anyone hear about this?
Hmmm…I don’t know anyone personally who ordered that bundle, so this is the first I’m hearing of it.
Are they at least giving you some kind of refund or something?
I was at a toys r us here in Canada and they already have the legendary sky racing pack, wished I could have gotten one…
Thanks for this!
If you need a Dark figure to Supercharge a Dark vehicle, does that mean Dark Stealth Elf & The Dark Sea Shadow will never be able to be supercharged?
Do you know if the other variants (nitro, legendary etc.) need to matched up to Supercharge also?
When supercharging a Vehicle, only the character you use matters.
For example, I can use Dark Super Shot Stealth Elf to supercharge Nitro Stealth Stinger.
i have the blueprints but i cant equip the part
this quiestion may sound like strange and a lot console-specific related, and here i go:
can you play the wii version of Skylanders Supercharged with ONLY the former skylanders (i.e. SF, SSA, SG)
and no vehicles neither supercharged characters…
i’ve heard about the “renting” of land and water vehicles in-game… so… ¿is there any Instant sky vehicle?
That’s a good question. I’ll have to try that out and get back to you.
I’ve made some research, and now i got a preview answer,
i have a modifed wii so i was able to run a back-up of Skylanders SuperChargers Racing (2.2gb) on it, I Use My Old SSA Wireless portal,
a Skylanders Serires 2 (Chop Chop)
and a Sidekick (gil runt),
Now,I was able to run into the game menu, and i could select “cup mode” on both land and water courses using the vehicules pandergast lend us to play: The Clunker, and the Blunder Bucket (these vehicles besides being kinda slow or simple, they are still fun to play with, but you canno’t upgrade them nor modify them)
I wasnt able to unlock nor play anything from adventure mode (as, it was only available for bowser skymiibo and his clown crousier, so, by not having these toys i were unable to enter the adventure) nor the air courses in coup mode, as long as they don’t lend you an air vehicule.
On the downside, the portal seems to disconnect or disyncronize every now and then, during the race, it was really anoying and really i did’t know why this were happening, anyway, i will try later with some other portals (i have the SG and SSF USB pluggable portals, so i can run more tests later)
i just play about an hour or less so this is my first impression, i don’t yet, how many courses are, or if you can level up your skylanders just by runing…
but as far as my original question was..
YES, You Can Play (some portions of) Skylanders SuperChargers Racing on Wii Using an Old Portal, and Any Legacy Skylander.
Thanks for sharing.
none of my skylanders from the old sets are working. every time i place one on the portal, it says it needs reset because it is corrupted (and yet i bought them new) and two options pop up saying to retry or reset. this is repeating no matter what skylander i use (grim creeper, tough luck, the glow in the dark griffin, the archer with a fire arrow notched, the dragon with the staff with fire coming out of its ends) the only ones working is bowser and stealth elf, which came in the starter pack.
I can’t change my characters on the portal and when player 2 joins it won’t pick up the characters either
how do I reset the blueprints
I have a question.
If I use a color variant of a Supercharger with their signature vehicle, but just the normal vehicle and not the matching vehicle, will the vehicle still be Supercharged?
Here’s the question in easier to understand words:
Example: I use Power Blue Trigger Happy with just the regular Gold Rusher, not the Power Blue Gold Rusher
Will the vehicle still be Supercharged?
